Sub-Standard TBM Performance

Despite an acknowledged differing site condition by owner, the performance of two EPB TBMs performed far below predictions and according to purported TBM forces acting on the rock.  

In effect, the penetration rate was reduced by more than 25% as a consequence of the manufacturer's artificial limitation of thrust. 

Prior to completion of our investigation of the sub-standard performance on behalf of the contractor, the parties settled
